Germination rate and root elongation as a rapid phytotoxion test method,possess several advantages,such as sensitivity,simplicity,low cost and suitability for unstable chemicals or samples.These advantages made them suitable for developing a large-scale phytotoxity database to study mechanisms of phytotoxity.A study was conducted to determine the effect of nano-black carbon and cadmium on the seed germination and root growth of ryegrass to found the best ratio of cadmium and nano-black carbon to remediate the cadmium pollution.Seeds were treated with solution of the following salts concentration 5,10,15,30,50,100,200 mg/l with or without 5 ug nano-black carbon added.The seed germination and root growth were promoted with Cd concentration of 5 and 10 mg/l.However,the inhibition of Cd on ryegrass was found from 15 to 200 mg/l.On the other hand,the addition of nano-black carbon reduce the toxic of Cd on seed germination of ryegrass and lower the concentration in ryegrass.The concentration of Cd in ryegrass root in nano-black carbon with Cd solution was lower significantly thant that of growth in Cd solution.The mark-down percentage increase along with nano-black carbon keep on increasing which was from 2.4%to 25.8%.
