Characterization and expression analysis of the WRKY gene family in moso bamboo

  To explore the structure and the function of the WRKY transcription factor family in shoot growth,flower development and abiotic stresses in moso bamboo,fast growing species in the world,a total of 96 WRKY genes have been identified.PheWRKYs can be divided into three groups.Expression analysis based on digital expression profile and qRT-PCR data reveal that PheWRKY genes are extensively involved in blossom,drought-responses and cold-responses.Further,we always notice out PheWRKY12-2,29-3,49,62,71-1,80-3 showing significantly upregulated during fast shoot growth stage which might indicate that these genes play important roles in the rapid growth of moso bamboo.In addition,a member(PheWRKY9)with extended zinc-finger structure(C-X5-C-X88-H-X1-H)was founded firstly in moso bamboo genomic database which differs from other PheWRKY proteins(C-X4-5-C-X22-23-H-X1-H(group 1 and group 2)or C-X6-7-C-X23-30-H-X1-C(group 3)).However,interestingly,in the subsequent sequence verification test,we cant obtianed itself,but cloned its alternative splicing variant which contained an normal structure(C-X5-C-X23-H-X1-H).
