  Its well known that application technologies for orchards and vineyards are different from that for field crops.The targets of orchards and vineyards are vertical canopies consisted of leaves and fruits, while the field crops are considered as a plane on which the pesticides applied.The pesticide labels are registered for all kinds of crops, irrespective of the special structure of crops.The labels expressed in rate per ground area works for field crops, not for three-dimensional crops like orchards and vineyards, due to the changeable canopies along the season, different distances between rows, and culture systems.Alternative methods are developed to adjust application rates for orchards and vineyards in order to apply pesticides correctly and precisely, reduce the pollution caused from drift and run-off, as well as the cost spent, such as Unit Canopy Row (UCR) from Australia, DOSAVINA from Spain and USA, Tree Row Volume (TRV) from USA, Leaf Wall Area (LWA) from Germany and Belgium, and Pesticide Adjustments to the Crop Environment (PACE) from UK.These methods have been using and achieved good results in similar or even higher deposition and biological efficiencies.
