  A rapid and highly sensitive ultra-high performance liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization mass spectrometry(UPLC-MS/MS)method for simultaneous determination of dithiocarbamate(DTC)fungicide residues in fruits and vegetables was developed.The two DTC subclasses,i.e.ethylenebisdithiocarbamates(EBDCs; mancozeb,maneb and zineb)and propylenebisdithiocarbamates(PBDCs; propineb),were transformed into dimethyl ethylenebisdithiocarbamate(EBDC-dimethyl)and dimethyl propylenebisdithiocarbamate(PBDC-dimethyl),respectively,by methylation after their decomposition with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid(EDTA).These processes were performed simultaneously in this method.Dimethyl sulfate was used as the methylation reagent.After the dispersive solid-phase extraction of the resulting methyl derivatives,they were measured by UPLC–MS/MS,based on reversed-phase separation and MS/MS detection with positive electrospray ionization.Quantification is based on external standard calibration curves made with EBDCs-spiked and PBDCs-spiked blank-matrices.The recoveries all through the procedure from EBDCs to EBDC-dimethyl and from PBDCs to PBDC-dimethyl in all matrixes were in the range of 82.8-104.3 and 92.4-102.8%,respectively.The limits of quantification of above two dithiocarbamate(DTC)fungicides were 0.5-2.0 μg/kg in the form of DMDC-methyl,and 0.3-3.0 μg/kg in the form of PBDC-dimethyl,respectively.The proposed method was successfully applied for simultaneously analysis of EBDCs and PBDCs fungicides in the real samples,indicating its efficacy in the surveillance of fungicidal dithiocarbamte residues in fruits and vegetables samples.
