We present a novel implementation approach for stress-based topology optimization in the framework of tailored CAE software without the direct access to intemal finite element information database such as element stiffness matrices or strain-displacement matrices.As the internal finite element information is essential in calculating the sensitivity analysis of the constraints associated with the static failure criterion [1-4], it has been regarded that in-house finite element codes providing these information are required.Thus tailored finite element codes not providing the internal information has not been used for stress-based topology optimization.To overcome this prejudice, we develop an innovative implementation scheme without the direct access to the intemal information database.The benefits of the present implementation scheme is that the well-established powerful finite element codes can be used for stress-based topology optimization and any kind of irregular finite element can be considered.By solving several topology optimization problems with 2D, 3D and shell elements, the validity and effectiveness are presented.
