  In analysis of the mechanism of projectile penetrating to plate, the one dimensional engineering calculation can be provided with the characters of clearer physical implication, faster processing and more stable results than the two or three dimensional computations.The Woodward model was combined with Tate model in the present paper to analyze the protection properties of the ceramic composite plate.The Woodward model was used to calculate the respond of the front ceramic plate with considering to the ceramic cone and the Tate model was used to analyze the penetrated process of the back metal plate.It is shown from the comparison between the calculated results and experiments that the hybrid method is more reliable than the single eroding model in calculation of the bullet impacting ceramic composite plate, but the single eroding model could give comparable results in calculation of long rod penetrating thick ceramic composite structure.
