The excimer has received much attention in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), chemo-and biosensors, etc.However, excimer formation is declared to drastically quench the photoluminescent quantum yield (ηPL), which is usually considered to avoid as possible as we can.Herein, we report an anthracene-based crystal, 2-(anthracen-9-yl)thianthrene (2-TA-AN),showed the outstanding excimer fluorescence with a long lifetime of 163.75 ns and an ultra-high ηPL of 90%, which is superior to all anthracene-based excimers have been reported.This case will open a way to achieve the excimer fluorescence with long lifetime and high efficiency.
