  As lead (Pb2+) toxicity may cause physiological and biochemical dysfunctions in plants, while magnesium (Mg2+) has been proved to be able to ameliorate the adverse effects of certain heavy metal stresses on plants, this study was designed to investigate the toxic effects of Pb2+ and to clarify the mechanism of Mg2+-induced alleviation of Pb2+ 35 toxicity in Torreya grandis (T.grandis)seedlings.
