The Western Siberian grain belt is of global significance in terms of agricultural production as well as carbon sequestration and biodiversity preservation.Since the dissolution of Soviet Union and collapse of the state farm system,land use intensities in Tyumen province(Western Siberia,Russian Federation)are decreasing on grassland due to declining livestock whilst on cropland opposite trends are being observed since 2003.
