Urogynecology is in a major transition in the United States, after a decade of rapid growth, with the advent of transvaginal and transobturator slings, single incision slings, augmented biologic and mesh repairs, and robotic surgery. The recent FDA announcements on the potential dangers of mesh use have dampened the enthusiasm of many surgeons.Another rapidly growing field in the United States is Aesthetic Vulvovaginal Surgery.Gynecologists, plastic surgeons, cosmetic surgeons have all sought basic and advanced skills to add to their practices. For many urogynecologists the combination of reconstructive and aesthetic vaginal surgeries have been both challenging and rewarding.Dr.Alinsod will present the current State-of-the-Art treatments modalities used and will discuss the marriage of aesthetics with reconstructive vulvovaginal surgery as an integral whole.
