Biomedical information technology provides comprehensive and intuitive knowledge which was previously not available in biomedicine, and has changed the way of our learning, thinking, imagination, research and clinical di agnosis. In particular, information technology has become a driving force for biomedical research and high quality healthcare delivery, such as in the areas of biomedical functional imaging, molecular imaging in biology and phar macology, biomedical systems modeling and quantification, electronic patient record systems and knowledge-based approach for retrieving patient records, computer-aided diagnosis and clinical decision support systems, telemedi cine and ubiquitous M-Health, and smart homecare. This seminar will focus on some core theories and enabling techniques research in biomedical information technology, including biomedical data acquisition, compression, management, analysis, processing, modeling, simulation, registration, visualization, transmission and integration.Several clinical applications cases will be demonstrated.
