Objective To observe the effect of Yinxingguttate on plasma intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), nitric oxide, malondialdehyde in patients with stable angina and high homocysteine, and explore its possible effects in protecting vascular endothelial cells from damage.Methods 280 outpatients with stable angina and high homocysteine in Anzhen Hospital from Mar 2010 to August 2012 were selected.All the patients were randomly divided into control group (n=140) and treatment group (n=140).The control group was administered with Aspirin, Nitrates, Folate and B vitamins, and treatment group was administered with Yinxingguttate 4 pills three times a day besides.Before admission and 30 days later, 6 ml venous blood was obtained from all the patients, and the level of plasma ICAM-1, VCAM-1, nitric oxide, malondialdehyde were investigated.Results The level of plasma homocysteine of the two groups decreased significantly 30 days later compared with pre-admission (P<0.01).There were significant differences on the level of ICAM-1, VCAM-1, nitric oxide and malondialdehyde of two groups after 30 days of compared withpre-admission [(259±43) ug/Lvs (376±52) ug/L, (432±61) ug/Lvs (535±64) ug/L, (76±9)umol/Lvs(68±10)umol/L, (6.7±0.8)umol/Lvs (8.7±0.8 umol/L); 治疗组: (198±36) ug/L vs (349±73) ug/L, (315±44) ug/L vs (524±82) ug/L, (86±10) umol/L vs (65±9) umol/L,(5.0± 0.6) umol/L vs (7.2±1.1) umol/L] (P<0.01).There were significant differences on the level of ICAM-1, VCAM-1, nitric oxide and malondialdehyde of treatment group compared with control group (P <0.05).Conclusion Yinxingguttate pills can decrease the plasma adhesion molecules of patients with stableangina and high homocysteine, and protect vascular endothelial cells against damage, which may play a role in retarding atherosclerosis.Its mechanism may be related to inhibiting lipid peroxidation reaction.
