Neuronal growth cones, tips of neurites, not only probe the surrounding matrix in se-arch of permissivesites to form adhesions, but also sense the guidance cues(e.g,netrin-1) to change the direction ofneurite elongation. The coordination among differ-ent environmental cues and the coupling betweenthe sensory and motor activities at the growth cones are essential for axonal guidance. Our recentstudies suggest a roleof myosin X(Myo X),an unconventional myosin,as a “vehicle” traveling onthe acti-n filament based “highways” to deliver receptors for growth cone sensory function-s. Thispresentation will specifically discuss how Myo X delivers netrin-1 receptor,DCC(deleted incolorectal cancer),to the tips of neurites and regulates netrin-1 fu-nctions.
