Gain of chromosome 5p13 is a common event in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).The gene of S-phase kinase-associated protein 2(SKP2),located at 5p13,has been shown to promote cell cycle progression through targeting specific proteins for ubiquitylation and degradation by the 26S proteasome. In the present study,we examined amplification status and expression levels of SKP2 in ESCC and investigated its clinicopathological significance in ESCC.We found that SKP2 exhibited amplification in 9(37.5% ) of 24 ESCC samples.
