Clinopyroxene xenocrysts are firstly found in Cenozoic basanite from Xikeer,Tarim Block,Northwest China.Clinopyroxene xenocrysts show clearly simple zoned texture. The cores have eroded edges and fractures, with prevailing exsolution of othorpyroxene and/or Al-rich spinel. They are characterized by high Mg# (91-92) and Cr2O3 abundance (up to 1.3 wt.%),similar to the Xikeer spinel peridotite clinopyroxenes (Chen et al.,in press).Major element chemical equilibrium calculation further implies that the xenocryst cores should derive from disaggregated lithospheric mantle. The rims with much lower Mg# (83-87),however,show petrographic and chemical features in equilibrium with the host alkalic magma (Mg# = 56-59).
