Variation in traits causes bacterial populations to respond to blooms.Learning about this will help us understand Microbial ecological process and mechanism in regulating HABs.We used 454 pyrosequencing of the variable region V1-V3 of the 16S rRNA gene to study dynamics of taxa during a bloom caused by Akashiwo sanguinea in Xiamen sea area, China, and link community and population changes to biological and chemical factors.Bloom samples were collected from May 23, 2009 to May 27, and non bloom samples were collected in August 2009 in Xiamen Sea area. The analysis rendered 77,853sequence reads for six samples analyzed, on average, 12,975 sequences for each sample providing detailed description of bacteria dynamics during blooms caused by A.sanguine.
