  Ionic liquids (ILs) has been an attractive research subject of stationary phases for GC due to its peculiar properties.Our group proposed a practical approach to prepare the stationary phase of polysiloxane ionic liquid (PSOIL) by the reaction of poly-γ-chloropropyl-methylsiloxane and 1-methylimidazole.In this work, an alternative synthesis method was studied, which was described briefly as follows.Firstly, 1-(γ-methyldiethoxysilylpropyl)-imidazole (ImSi) was prepared and then, polycondensated with dimethyldiethoxylsilane to produce polysiloxane (PSOIm) with side chains of 3-(1-imidazolyl)propyl.Secondly, 1-bromooctane, or other halide compounds, reacted with PSOIm to synthesize ionic liquid bonded polysiloxane with octyl groups.Finally, the Br-anions were transferred into NTf2-to improve the thermo-stability of the polymer ([PSOImOct][NTf2]).In contrast with the previous one, the novel method provided a simple and practical way to modify the nature of ionic liquid bonded polysiloxane using various halide compounds.
