OBJECTIVE: To explore the characteristics of clinicopathology and diagnostic criteria about Pituicytoma.METHODS: The clinical data ,radiological , histopathologic observation and immunohistochemical staining were studied in 2 cases of pitnicytoma, so that to explore its diagnosis and differential diagnosis combined with documents.Results: Case 1, female, 26 years old.Case 2, male, 25 years old.Cranial MRI showed saddle space occupying lesion.Microscope showed short bipolar spindle-like spindle cell component which have a lower cell density, sparse arrangement like glial fiber bundle and vascular structures can be seen in the local.No nuclear fission was found.Immunohistochemical staining results: vimentin (+)、 S-100 (+)、 GFAP(+)、 vimentin (+)、 ki-67 (+<5%)、 NEU-N(-)、 EMA(-).Both of these cases were diagnosed as pituitary tumor, WHO grade Ⅰ.Conclusion: Pituicytoma which was composed of low-grade spindle cell is rarely.It originated in the adult pituitary or infundibulum.Pituicytoma grow slowly.It is necessary to be differentiated from infundibulum, pilocytic astrocytoma and spindle cell oncocytoma of the adenohypophysis.
