Error control coding can be taken to mitigate atmospheric turbulence-induced signal fading in free-space optical (FSO) communication. In this paper,we study the analytical performance of coded FSO system in the context of lognormal atmospheric turbulence channel.Weput our focus on analytical evaluating the performance of product codes based on extended Hamming codes under maximum-likelihood (ML) decoding which are seldom discussed in the literature. The performance at low error rates which are critical for FSO system is mainly investigated.Simulation results are further demonstrated to confirm the analytical results.
