An observability analysis for navigation using either a single fine of sight optical measurement or a single X-ray pulsar is performed. The analysis involves eigenvalue/eigenvector decompositions of the fish information matrix using Cramer-Rao inequality. The informationmatrix is shown to be singular when only one observation is obtained, which indicates that the system is un-observable.
