Objective:To explore effects of 12C ions beam exposure on cell cycle and apoptosis of lymphocytes. Methods:Human peripheral blood lymphocytes Peng-EBV were exposed to a 12C ions beams with different dose (0 Gy,0.5 Gy,2.0Gy) at the rate of 0.3~0.5Gy/min.Cell apoptosis were detected by flow cytometry (FCM) after 12h,24h,48h,19d,20d,30d irradiation.Cell cycle were analyzed individually at 4h,8h,12h,16h,20h,24h,48h,30d post- irradiation.Datas were evaluated by SPSS18.0 software. Results:The apoptosis rate was the highest(53.20%±2.90%) after 2Gy 12C- irradiation at 24 h,it sharp fell to 16.20%±7.86% at 48h,compared with the control(3.11%±1.05%),the data was significantly different (P<0.05).Under 0.5Gy the maximum number of apoptosis rate was 44.22%±11.90% at 24 h,it fell to 33.01%±11.38% at 48h,with a recovery at 20d and 30d.While cell mortality rate reached the top at 48 h,it was 5% with 0.5 Gy and 10% with 2 Gy.12C ions induced lymphocytes arrested at G2/M phase, the highest G2/M arrest was 45.05%±1.06% by 2Gy at 24h,it’s similar to 48h,that’s about to a double compared with 0.5Gy,those datas was significant difference (P<0.05) compared with control(2.84%±1.49%).
