Soil contamination by toxic metals has increased over the past few decades.Currently, different technologies are applied to remediate polluted soils such as biological, thermal and physical–chemical.Chemical passivation is one of the chemical methods,in which various kinds of passivation materials applied to the soils. It could reduce the biological effectiveness of heavy metals through the heavy metal adsorption, redox, antagonism or precipitate action. There are many advantages of chemical passivation, such as fast, economical and effective.Five materials, calcium carbonate(CC),bone power(BP),phosphate rock(PR),oxalic acid-activated PR(APR),and super phosphate(SP)were added to contaminated soil with the goal to alter the mobility of heavy metals and to modify potential environmental impacts.Five levels,0.1%、0.5%、1%、2%、4%of each material was added in mine soil by mass ratios for twice replicates. The chemical fractions of Cd,Cu,and Pb were measured by Tessier sequential extraction procedure. The results showed that the pH increased 1.3-2.7 units except the SP,which decreased 0.5 units at most. All the ion-exchangeable speciation of heavy metals were decreased significantly, whats more the Pb of ion-exchangeable cannot be detected. The residual forms of Cd,Cu,and Pb were all increased partly.APR works best on the passivation for Cd,Cu,and Pb.
