4-hydroxy-6-methyl-2-pyrone is an important class of compounds found in a variety of natural products and bioactive molecules and is used as versatile intermediates in organic and natural-product synthesis[1].Several groups have reported such reactions[2,3].A direct asymmetric Michael addition of 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-2-pyrone to β,γ-unsaturated α-ketoamides could be efficiently catalyzed by dinuclear zinc[4].Excellent yields and good enantioselectivities were achieved for a variety of 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-2-pyrone and β,γ-unsaturated α-ketoamides.
