A genus Arundina belongs to subtribe Arethusinae,tribe Arethuseae,subfamily Epidendroideae in Orchidaceae (Pridgeon et al.,1995,van den berg et al.,2005).The genus has only two species,Arundina grminifolia and A.caespitosa.A.griminifolia is relatively common orchid in Southeast Asia,distributing from Nepal,southern China to lndochina through several of the Pacific island to Ryukyu Island (Seidenfaden and Wood,1992;Comber,2001).Meanwhile,A.caespitosa is a very rare and endangered orchid having very limited habitat in Vietnam(Averyanov,1997).Arundina graminifolia is one of the most morphologically varied taxa in the orchid family.A number of species have been described in Arundina (Garay and Sweet,1974;Comber,2001) due to its variable morphological variationsin terms of plant size,colour of flower and its habitats leading many taxonomists created several synonymous.
