Phytohormones play crucial regulating roles in plant growth and development while the demand for detection accuracy still remains a challenge today.Since the first phytohormonal biosensor (a piezoelectric IAA immunosensor) was developed in 2002, it emerged as a hopeful tool for phytohormonal assay based on the advantages over traditional assays for real time, in situ and in vivo possibility.In the past 10 years, great progress was achieved in this fascinating field.Many types of biosensors with different sensing principles were developed, including quartz crystal microbalance, electrochemical (enzyme catalytic and non-enzymatic), surface plasmon resonance and optical (chemiluminance and quantum dot) biosensors.
