Introduction Physical dormancy is known to occur in seeds or fruits that belong to 18 families of angiosperms (Gama-Arachchige et al 2012).PY in seeds/fruits is maintained by water impermeable palisade layer(s), and breaking of PY involves the formation of a small gap (water-gap) in the seed or fruit coat under certain environmental conditions (Baskin et al 2000).
