  Chemical looping combustion of gaseous and solid fuels has been investigated widely in recent years.This work gives a particular concern on the gasification of biomass using oxygen carriers..Calculations of reactions between biomass and oxygen carriers(Fe2O3 NiO and CuO)were conducted via the method of Gibbs free energy minimization,to understand the effect of temperature,mass ratio of oxygen carrier/biomass and pressure on the gasification of biomass.In addition,the influence of K2CO3 additive on reactions between biomass and oxygen carriers were experimentally investigated using the technique of thermogravimetric analysis.The results show that temperature could promote reactions between oxygen carriers and biomass and there are optimum mass ratios between oxygen carriers and biomass for its chemical looping gasification.Though the reactivity of Fe2O3 and CuO is behind NiO,the addition of K2CO3 could promote their reaction characteristics in the utilization of biomass.
