Research on Influencing Factors of Pedestrian Distribution in Cloud Nine Plaza of Zhongshan Park

  A quantitative evaluation method was proposed in this research,and found that the spatial variables,including mean depth,distance to escalators,relationship with building entrances,level,and width of passage ways,had a strong correlation with pedestrian distribution.With the multivariate linear regression by SPSS,it indicated that the pedestrian distribution could be explained well with the above variables,and the coefficient of determination could achieve at 57.6%.Based on the related researches,the spatial factors affecting pedestrian distribution can attribute to three types: pedestrian generators,spatial features,and attraction of function.The research adopted "gate count" and "trace observation" to record the pedestrian flow and the trace,and used Space Syntax to calculate the global integration (Rn) and spatial depth.Then,correlation analysis and multiple linear regression model by SPSS were used to research on the pedestrian distribution under the effect of multifactors of space in rail transit complex.The main findings are summarized as following: (1) Mean depth is proved to have the greatest influence on pedestrian distribution.In a multi-level commercial space of rail transit complex,various design methods should be adopted to reduce spatial depth.(2) Relationship with escalators is proved to be the great factors on pedestrian distribution.In order to guide a well distribution in vertical,escalators should be arranged near the pedestrian generators;the position that the escalators connects to should also have higher accessibility than other place on the floor;especially for multi-level escalators,the position should be noticeable,convenient and easy to reach.(3) The new combined variable F/D,spatial depth coefficient of function,which shows the attraction of functions under different spatial depth,also plays a important role in prediction of pedestrian distribution.Atrium can effectively enhance the visibility of axis and then can improve the combined variable F/D.(4) In the regression model,global integration has negative correlation with pedestrian distribution,that are mainly caused by spatial characteristics of Cloud Nine Plaza of Zhongshan Park.In multi-level commercial space with same topological relation on each floor,there is probably no correlation between integration and pedestrian distribution.
