  Switchable liquid crystal gratings have been widely used in beam steering devices,wavefront modulation,lenses and laser and holographic displays.Cholesteric liquid crystal(CLC)technologies play important roles in reflective bistable displays and a wide range of switchable gratings [1-3] and spatial light modulators with the advantage of low power consumption due to bistability.In this talk,we will report some of our recent progresses on electrically-and photoswitchable bistable CLC gratings [4] as well as the related applications in detectors and spatial light modulators are also discussed.
