High-pressure and ultrahigh-pressure metamorphic rocks in the Kyrgyz Tien-Shan

Kyrgyz Tien Shan contains UHP metamorphic complexes: Makbal complex in Caledonian Northern Tien Shan and Choloktor complex in Hercynian Southern Tien Shan.In the Makbal complex,in garnets of quartzites,metapelites and also in some lenses of eclogites relicts of coesite and its pseudomorphs are identified.In the metapelites,along with coesite Mg-chloritoid occur that testifies subduction took place in the conditions of low geothermal gradients.The peak UHP metamorphic age is established to be 480 Ma.Exotic bodies with lower pressure and older ages (800-700 Ma) are occasionally occurring in the quartzites and metapelites.Apparently,they have been grasped by quartzites during their exhumation as a result of density inversion sialic mass.In the Choloktor complex,the UHP metamorphic conditions are established on presence of quartz pseudomrophs after coesite and lawsonite in the eclogites.Here,the mixture of eclogites with garnet-quartz aggregate is widely developed.They also contain quartz pseudomorphs after coesite.The considerable volume of quartzites and metapelites in the structure of both UHPM complexes,probably,played a dominant role in exhumation of deep-seated rocks.
