Through the history,bridges are designed for varying traffic loads,and designs are made using varying assessments methods.In long-term,weight of permitted vehicles tends to increase over time.To serve better the road users,services like permits for special heavy transport need up-to-date and quickly accessible information of the load-bearing capacity (resistance) of the bridges.To achieve this in Finland,Finnish Transport Agency has assessed for its 14,600 road bridges pre-assessed permitted axle-load values ("X-values")for 15 standard axle load patterns that represent typical heavy transports.This has been in use couple of decades.Within this time,however,typical axle-load patterns of real heavy vehicles have changed.
