Bibers Multi-dimensional Analyses(MDA、 framework has brought about profound changes in new methodolog ic al approaches in register study.This study aims to investigate 1inguistic differences in research article S written by both English Native Speaker Scholars(NS Scholars)and Chinese Non-Native Speaker scholars(Chinese NNS Scholars).A variety of statistical devices,especially exploratory factor analysis.Are used to obtain language dimensions distinguishing between NS scholars and Chinese NNS scholars. Finally 7 factors are extracted and named as language dimensions. Factor score comparisons show that Chinese scholars need to use more written 1inguistic features in writing research articleS.Chinese NNS scholars in Physical Sciences and Engineering are in great need of language assistance in writing English research articleS.The follow—up research will probe into some linguistic features at a micro level
