Ⅱ-Ⅵ group compounds have obtained much attention because of their potential applications in photovoltaic devices for solar energy conversion and infiared detection.A new temary chalcogenide Hg3S2Cl2 was prepared by solid state method and crystallizes in the space group C2/m of the orthorhombic system with a=16.910(0), b=9.120(0), c=9.374(0) (A), β3=90.69°, V=1445.5 (5) (A)3.R1=0.0669, wR2=0.1992.
