Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (iNPH) is characterized by disturbed CSF dynamics, normal ICP and enlarged ventricles.Outcome after shunt surgery is good but we still lack sensitive method for prediction of the individual patient.Previous CSF studies in iNPH have indicated a variety of changes such as astrogliosis, axonal degeneration, inflammation but no major demyelination.Peptidergic neurotransmission is disturbed whereas monoamine metabolites remain normal.Neurofilament light protein (NFL) in CSF correlates with more pronounced symptoms and a more favourable outcome after surgery.New data on the expression of NFL, Myelin Basic Protein, β-amyloid fragment 38,40,42, sAPP alfa and beta fragment, total and phosforylated Tau, IFNg, IL-1, IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12, IL-13, TNFa and MCP-1 before and after surgery and in comparison with healthy individuals will be presented.
