Alzheimers Disease (AD) is the most prevalent form of age-related dementia, which affects about 5% of individuals over the age of 65 and more than 20% over the age of 80.The analysis of contemporary approaches for discovery of novel efficient agents for AD treatment permits to outline the following main trends:1.The development of the "disease modifying drugs (DMD)",-therapeutic agents that affect pathogenesis of disease and slow the progression of structural damages and produce the improvement of cognition functions in AD patients persists even after abolishment of the agent.The main strategies are related to blockade of beta-amyloid oligomers formation and deposition, or/and prevention the formation of neurofibrillary tangles in brain.
