Since the introduction of the Intralase (AMO, USA) femtosecond laser, femtosecond lasers have revolutionized refractive surgery.Today, there are other femtosecond laser platforms available and many advances in femtosecond laser technology have been developed.The Intralase (AMO, USA) and the Visumax (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Germany) femtosecond laser platforms are two commonly used femtosecond laser platforms for FemtoLASIK today.This presentation will highlight advances in femtosecond technology and key differences between the two femtosecond laser platforms.This presentation will also compare the safety, efficacy, predictability and patient satisfaction of FemtoLASlK performed with the two femtosecond laser platforms through various researches done at the Singapore National Eye Centre.Newer innovative treatment of myopia by using only femtosecond lasers are now also available.This presentation will also discuss newer technology like ReLEX (Refractive Lenticule Extraction) for the treatment of myopia and experiences with ReLEX in the Singapore National Eye Centre.
