In this study, we present an optimal design of flexible arm considering the vibration suppression and demonstrate the effectiveness of shape design by the experimental measurement.The control of vibration is one of the important matters for the positioning of flexible manipulator.Numerous control strategies have been proposed for control of vibration.In order to improve the performance of flexible manipulator on the positioning accuracy, we need to consider the structural design in addition to the control system design.We deal with a vibration suppression problem from the view point of shape design of flexible arm.
