The coordination of multiple mechanical systems provides a challenging research area of increasing interest in both application and theory.On one side, strong motivation for these problems stems from the inherent strength and robustness in a coordinated group when dealing with tasks such as search, surveillance, exploration, and mapping.On the other side, coordination control for multiple mechanical systems can benefit a lot from exploiting structural properties of mechanical systems with the help of abundant geometric mechanics tools [1].
