Fractionation of cornstalk into carbohydrate(cellulose and hemicellulose)and lignin, was carried out using alkali-catalyzed organosolv pretreatment(ACOS).The processing parameters in the pretreatment process were optimized.More than 85%of total lignin was removed with low amounts of hemicellulose degradation under the following conditions: 110℃,0.4%(w/v)NaOH,90 min reaction time, and 60%(v/v)EtOH.The maximum recovery of total monosaccharide(81%)(cellulose/79%,hemicellulos/84%)was obtained at the combined severity factor value of(CSF = 4.15).The physical structure and chemical properties of alkali-catalyzed organosolv lignin(ACOSL)were analyzed. Results suggested that ACOSL showed intact structure compared to alkali lignin.
