The 2,6-bisthiophene-substituted BODIPY deirvatives with remarkable large Stokes shift of 92 nm (vs.the small Stokes shift of less than 15 nm for the typical BODIPY fluorophores) were used for construction of fluorescence OFF-ON thiol probes,1,2 with the 2,4-dinitrobenzenesulfonyl (DNBS) as the intramolecular electron sink.
