The huntsman spider,Heteropoda venatoria,is highly valued in tropical countries because this specie captures and feeds on cockroaches and other domestic insect pests.The huntsman spiders do not use webs to capture prey.Their great speed and strong chelicerae (mouthparts) with toxin gland are used to capture the insects on which they feed.Only a very small number peptide toxins of this specie have been published.Up to this moment,no information on the gene characterization of H.venatoria is available.
