Batch Tests of Stirring Bioleaching for the Fine Ore from Xiangshan Uranium Deposit,East China

The uranium ores of Xiangshan deposit are complex with high content of clay minerals.Currently,high-grade uranium ore from this deposit is leached by a conventional agitation hydrometallurgical way, but the production costs are high and economic efficiency is poor.In this paper, batch tests of stirring bioleaching were conducted in study for the fine uranium ore which ninety percent of particles were less 0.075mm.Acidified test showed that the acid in the range of 30 to 60 gram per liter was good for leaching.The best acid was 30 gram per liter resulting pH less than 2.0 and acid consumption was 8%.This acid is good for bioleaching.Pulpe density test, of which pulpe density ranged from 20% to 40%, showed that the lower the pulpe density was, the higher uranium extraction would be.The initial ferric concentration test, in which the initial ferric concentration ranged from 1 to 10 gram per liter, showed that the optimum leaching ferric concentration was around 5 gram per liter.These parameters are keys for the next CSTR experiment.Compared to the conventional agitation hydrometallurgy, stirring bioleaching for the Xiangshan uranium ore is a better way to solve those problems such as high acid consumption and long leaching period.
