In 1915, Guo Moruo translated Heine the 16th song of in Okayama, Japan, which is the beginning of the translation of his poems into Chinese and Western poems. According to statistics, there are compiled translations of English poems between March and May 1959, and 238 poems have been translated during the period of the poet. The poems are written by poets from eight countries such as Germany, Britain, Russia and the United States. At the time of these translation activities, Guo Moruo left a large number of related speeches in the form of confessions, small quotations and comments. They are rich in content, and have a long span of time before and after. This shows that on the one hand, Guo Moruo’s achievements in translating poems and on the other hand also implies more questions on the translation of poems and articles by Western poetry.
