The effects of structure on the wear and corrosion behaviors of nanocrystalline (nc) and amorphous (ac) chromium coatings prepared by electrodepositing from trivalent chromium bath and sequent annealing were investigated by Wear-Load curves and potentiodynamic polarization curves, respectively; the microcryatalline chromium coating was also investigated for comparison. The results show that the wear and corrosion resistance are significantly influenced by the structure; nanocrystalline coatings exhibit higher resistance against abrasion, adhesion and fatigue wear but lower corrosion resistance than amorphous and microcrystalline chromium coatings.
