Bacterial infections still pose a major risk for the safety of the blood supply,especially for the platelet concentrates(PCs) ,as they are stored at room temperature for 5-7 days.A lot of works based on culture method have been done to test the sterility of the PCs,but most of them have to take at least 24h which is too long when compare to the short shift time of the PCs.Many species of bacteria could contaminate the PCs,it is really hard to identify a kind of antigen or protein that conserved in all species of bacteria serologically if it is not impossible.So,more and more researchers tend to use molecular diagnostic technologies to solve these problems.
