Conservation biology and molecular techniques have developed in parallel from the mid-1970s to the present day.Moreover,conservation biology theory,from the beginning,included a large component of population genetics.Despite this,molecular techniques have had less direct impact on practical conservation than other tools in the new conservation toolbox,such as remote sensing and spatial modeling,and most conservation work currently does not use these techniques at all.
