Molecular data have become dominant evidence in evolutionary reconstruction, population study,DNA taxonomy, genomic analysis, and in many such research fields.Rapid developments in sequencing technologies coupled with a wide range of bioinformatics tools led to affordable data production addressing varied biological questions.In addition, these recent technical progresses have inevitably revolutionized nearly every research field where molecular markers are employed.This talk will present some of these new results in producing mitochondrial genomes, transcriptomes, and genome sequences,and how they have improved studies in ecology, biodiversity study, evolutionary biology and genome research.
