  The fracture process simulation model of the gear tooth is built up by the finite element method(FEM)and extended finite element method(XFEM).Through the computation of the root stress intensity factor and the fracture process simulation of the tooth,the model mesh and the crack tip element are studied with the crack initiation and the crack propagation trajectory.Advances of the computational fracture mechanics are shown.
