PiersPlowman occupies a unique position in the history of British literature, especially in medieval English literature. As far as its spread is concerned, as Professor James Simpson said, “Farmer Pierce” has been the most widely read verse since its creation until the early Elizabethan times. In addition to the residual volume, the existing “farmer Pierce” manuscripts a total of 52 volumes. Such an impressive number compares favorably with that of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales (58) and Gower’s Confession of Lover (49), much more than the now-highly respected Sir & And the Green Knight “(1 roll). ~ ① Professor Stefan (Emily Steiner) is also based on the number of extant manuscript projections ”farmer Pierce"
