Background Piperacillin/tazobactam is an extended-spectrum β-lactamase inhibitor combination antibiotic and is commonly recommended as a first-line therapy for severe bacterial infections.As a time-dependent antibiotic, the drug concentrations exceed the fractional time above the minimum inhibitory concentration (fT＞MIC) indicates the bactericidal activity.Proper use of antimicrobials can improve clinical outcomes and reduce resistance, while maintaining antimicrobial sensitivity in general population.
